Friday, 18 March 2011 19:59

Last Saturday, the 12th of March was officially presented the Cordoba TIV Education Center to the evangelical churches of the province, on the occasion of the united annual meeting that these churches have been celebrating for the last 33 years.

The project, consisting of the creation of a TIV Education Center in the province, was presented by Mr. Antonio Simoni, one of its developers. It was also available a stand with several informative materials, where it was possible to attend personally to the interested people.

The Cordoba TIV Education Center arose in 2007 when the local churches and the Ayudando a Crecer (Helping To Grow) Foundation decided to work together at the creation of an evangelical school in Cordoba. Since then the working team, formed by seven people, has been working at the definition and design of a TIV center applied to the local needs, and it turned out in the project presented in this event. A version summarized of the same one can be consulted at this web (Projects > Cordoba TIV Education Center).

Land granted in Dos Hermanas to build the first TIV Center PDF Print E-mail

Last Thursday, October 7, the land grant for lot 42 of SQ-5 in Olivar de Quintos (Dos Hermanas, Sevilla) was signed in the presence of the notary of the public declaring that this lot will be used to build the first TIV Center.  This final event concluded the process begun last May when the official publication of the conditions for the land grant was published stating that the land was designated for an educational non-profit organization.  The Ayudando a Crecer (Helping to Grow) Foundation was awarded this land after presenting their project for the TIV Educational Center that will develop educational programs for 0-18 year olds (Early Childhood through College Preparatory levels).  The facilities, with classrooms for a total of 450 students, will also house other facilities for training programs and for community programs such as the D+R Educational Technological Center, Cybercafé, youth activities, gardens and music studios among others.

The 8000 m2 lot, almost 2 acres, is on a hill near Ciudaddel Conocimiento of Dos Hermanas and the city of Seville.  This lot is one of the highest points of Montquinto and the trees can be seen from the Fifth Century bridge. This residential neighborhood has an easy access from the highway and a metro stop just two blocks away. In the near vicinity is the future Ciudad del Conocimiento tecnological park, the University of Pablo de Olavide and the Horse Racetrack. The east side of the lot is bordered by a sidewalk which also borders the park area of the neighborhood sports and recreational center.

Before developing the building plans, careful inventory of these natural areas will include garden plots, decorative gardens and openair classrooms.

On Wednesday, March 10, 2010, the Association of Christian Schools International published an official letter giving their support to the Ayudando a Crecer (Helping to Grow) Foundation as it develops the TIV centers.  This letter officially documents the support that ACSI has given to the foundations since 2005, when this prestigious organization began to especially support this initiative by evaluating and providing guidance of various types.

In their letter written not only in Spanish but also in English, ACSI affirms:

  • We are acquainted with the TIV centers in Andalusia (Spain) sponsored by the Fundación Ayudando a Crecer.  They are an innovative organization of great public interest and benefit to society.
  • We have supported, supervised and backed these initiatives since 2005 and continue to do so today.
  • We willingly give our encouragement and counsel to the Fundación Ayudando a Crecer in defining the ideals and Christian content of their TIV Centers.
  • We willingly support them as they establish and operate the TIV Centers.  We will facilitate relationships between the TIV centers and Christian schools in other countries for mutual enrichment and ddevelopment of joint activities.
  • We look forward to the TIV Center becoming fully accredited members once they have passed the required accreditation procedures.

The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) works to accomplish its mission by providing programs, services and resources to its 5,500 member schools in more than 100 countries. Service is provided through a network of 18 regional offices throughout North America and in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The ACSI representatives to sign the letter were Dr. Estuardo Salazar, Regional Director for Latin America and Thoma Hilgeman, M.A. Educational Consultant. It was through Thomas Hilgeman that our relationship with the ACSI began as he was at that time designated int the European regional office.  He personally visited in 2006 to meet the educational team and hear in person the details for the first TIV project.
